List #546: Things I learned from reading "Born to Run"

1. Every once and awhile I do get swept up in the book that 'everybody's reading'
2. As much as the book made me think it would be awesome, I'll never be a distance runner
3. I would like to be barefoot more (some place once made me think that "shoes at all times" was a truth)
4. I want to try the foods they talk about
5. Proctor, MN is important
6. I should eat better and be nicer
7. Evolutionary Biology is cool
8. Drug Cartels are bad (and that's why drugs are bad)

List #407: A few things I learned on the ski-trip this weekend

List #407: A few things I learned skiing this weekend

1. Skis are tiny now!
2. I still know how to do it.
3. I don't mind being the dork that skis in sweat-pants (I had pj pants underneath for 'layering'), but never jeans!
4. Approximately every other person there (Blue Knob, PA) was #7 for the steelers (and wearing jeans)
5. Ice and rain aren't the best conditions
6. Chairlifts are still scary (especially with small children)
7. Broken glass is the greater danger of walking barefoot through the snow
8. I ought to ski more often
9. Younger kids are hilarious.
10. Good gloves are key.

1. It's fun to write lists
2. I can sustain a daily writing project for a year
3. I have a lot of cool friends
4. It's more fun to write if people are reading it
5. Comments are fun
6. I like attention
7. I've done a lot of cool things in my life
8. Writing lists is hard sometimes
9. Sometimes I'm clever
10. Most people read my lists on Facebook, but a few people found it on the wild internets
11. I've got more lists in me, so I'm probably going to continue to write lists, but not daily (at least for this year)
12. Probably some sort of deep thing about my true self, or something

List #363: Ways TV has made me a better person, or things I have learned (and the show that did it)

1. The alphabet is awesome and people are different and a million other things(Sesame Street (PBS FTW!))
2. Books are awesome (Reading Rainbow (though that's more reinforcement))
3. Knowing is Half the Battle (G.I. JOE)
4. Politcs are interesting and I should care about them (The West Wing)
5. School Librarianship is exciting (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
6. History is awesome (Connections)
7. Family is important, no matter how crazy (Arrested Development)
8. Good Police are valuable, and also Stay out of Baltimore(The Wire)
9. It's okay to wear suits and nice clothing (How I Met Your Mother (Barney))
10. Our Planet and it's inhabitants matter (any animal show, and I watched A LOT of them when I was younger... and now)

Bonus list: Ways TV has misled me
1. Unrealistic expectations for ease of romance (pretty much all tv)
2. Being a lawyer means wearing awesome clothes and giving awesome speeches all the time (Boston Legal)
