List #693: Thoughts on Last Night's Los Campesinos! show at The Black Cat

List #693: Thoughts on Last Night's Los Campesinos! show at The Black Cat

1. They've grown up and aren't just youngsters anymore
2. The lack of violin was noticeable, but they did a good job trying to fill it in
3. The lead singer has lost some range, but gained a ton of power and presence
4. The main female vocalist sounds great on the newer stuff, but was two low in the mix and is sometimes under-pitch on the old stuff
5. The bass player's image has changed (but she still does 'stoic bassist' very well)
6. The set list was pretty great and included "My Year In Lists" (!)
7. The Black Cat is an enjoyable venue
8. There were a fairly decent number of hipsters in the audience.
9. I would hate to be short at a show
10. Dinosaur Feathers (the opening act) were also a lot of fun. I liked the harmonies and the song about George R. R. Martin.
11. LC!'s sound has gotten a lot bigger or more intense.
12. I've reached the age where earplugs seem like a good idea.
